Community Safety Services provide a "drive-by" service where ever possible for customers who are going on holidays or will be away from their home for an extended period of time.
Holiday Watch Service
- On request, the City's Community Safety Services team can perform regular patrols of your property while you are away from your property.
- A minimum of one (1) patrol will be conducted in each 24-hour period, either day or night.
- If any suspicious or abnormal activity is identified during the patrols, the City will contact the nominated key-holder.
CSO Information
This service is not restricted to holidays/vacations and can include any extended absences from their property, including going into hospital.
Requirements for a request
Please ensure you meet the following criteria for requesting holiday watch patrols:
- requests may only be submitted within one week of the holiday/absence commencing
- a nominated Key-Holder is essential (including name, contact number, vehicle details)
- commercial properties are excluded from this service
- provide the City with the details of all vehicles that will be parked and/or visiting the property during that period (including Vehicle Registration Details)
- provide the City with the dates in which you will be on holidays/away
- service period is limited to a maximum of two (2) months.

Before you Lodge a Request
- Confirm the request is from a City of Canning resident using Intramaps to search their address.
- Confirm the above criteria has been met.
- Ensure details required as per the above criteria will be included on the request.
Reported as Anonymous
- If the customer has requested to remain anonymous, then do NOT provide the reference number.
- You can advise next steps, however the City will not contact the customer or keep them updated of progress.
Next Steps
- Provide the customer with the full tracking reference number (including letters at the end).
- Advise the customer that patrols will be conducted upon commencement of the holidays/absence and they will be notified of the outcome on their return.

"Your request has been raised to our Community Safety Services team. Your tracking reference number is (provide full tracking reference number from OneCouncil). Please make a note of this reference number to assist with tracking your request. Patrols will be conducted upon commencement of your holidays/absence and you will be notified of the outcome on your return. Is there anything else I can help you with?"
