Complaints process
Below is an overview of the nuisance dog complaints process.
- The City will respond to complaints about nuisance dogs
- By law, a dog is considered a nuisance when it barks so much that it unreasonably disrupts someone's peace, comfort, or convenience.
- If possible, get the customer to talk to their neighbour first and politely explain their concerns.
- If the customer can't talk to their neighbour, then log their complaint.
- As part of a formal complaint investigation, customers need to complete a Nuisance Dog Evidence Diary.
Anonymous requests
- Because customers need to complete a Nuisance Dog Evidence Diary, the City can't investigate a nuisance dog complaint if they want to be anonymous
- The City will do its best to protect the customer's identity.
