Feeding wild birds
- The City's Environmental Health team do not have power under the local laws, or health laws, to take enforcement action against people feeding wild birds.
- Further information on why you should not feed wild animals can be found on the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions website.
- The City's Conservation team may be able to assist with persistent issues relating to the feeding of wild birds through an educational approach. To report a persistent issue please use the Report the feeding of wild birds link below.
Wild birds causing a nuisance
- The City will respond to issues with the storage of rubbish at food businesses/shopping centres (e.g. bins overflowing/left open - this attracts birds due to the food source).
- The City's Environmental Health team will contact the food business/shopping centre to discuss better waste management and to keep bins closed so that they don't attract wild birds.

Issues with neighbours
- People are sometimes unaware that their activities are causing a problem.
- The City encourages all residents and business operators to talk to their neighbours about any issues before making a complaint.
